All of a sudden the leaves are turning brown and winter is upon us. How the year has flown.

Our Annual General Meeting was held in February and our guest speaker was Amanda Reid from Sunshine Girls, who spoke about the importance of calling the professionals in when you are faced with a death in a hotel.

In March we attended Hostex which is held every second year in Johannesburg. We had a very successful 3 days and thanks to the numerous Housekeepers that came by the stand to say hello.

As I write this newsletter we only have 140 days to the biggest sporting event our country has ever seen!

Did you know that on the 2nd of March 2010 is “Support National Fly the Flag Day which will mark 100 days to kick off?  I sincerely hope that you will proudly display our beautiful flag on your car, person and in your offices!

It is so rewarding when previous HASA learners are climbing the ladder to success and this newsletter will celebrate the “movers and shakers”.

It is with deep appreciation that HASA thank the Executive Housekeepers who guide and nurture our learners to help them to grow. Our success is your success.

Talking about time and growing, a mini full day workshop will be held from June to September in all regions.  The topic of the workshop is Time Management and aptly called “Eat that Frog”.  It is an excellent workshop – details to follow.

Thank you very much to the many delegates that wrote to me following the conference. Your feedback was appreciated and makes all the hard work that goes into running an event a pleasure.

The recession has hit each of us hard - my gratitude to the directors of the various hotel groups and our industry partners for your faith in us.
